Founded on a spirit of common will and gratitude, the partnership between Millcreek and The Black Stallion Literacy Project was born in 2007. Believing that our common ground—i.e., horses and the people who care for them—is a firm foundation to enable greater good, we’re endeavoring to bring more children to the wonderful world of books and true literacy. We all believe that horses are magical creatures, and their ability to nurture without a word DOES enable kids to read.
The fabled Black Stallion. Timid children learn to read, then meet this famed horse on the pages of their very own books. SEEING him in person is the magic of reading brought to life. Volunteers with hearts on fire. The magic of this program draws you in and makes you think. . . . Maybe I can make a difference. Did you know it costs just $8.00 to sponsor one child in this program?
